CBC Professional Development
At BMA/NYC, we're fiercely committed to the professional development of our members and colleagues. It's our only reason for existing. As part of our ongoing efforts to provide the best, we support The Certified Business Communicator (CBC) program. This is a distinguished title that has been given to less than 4,000 professionals in the country in the last 25 years. In fact, BMA is the only association that offers a professional certification program specific to business-to-business marketing.
The CBC program is administered through the national BMA office and it signals your commitment and competence in your field of specialty. If you're interested in earning this lofty distinction, see the details in this section of the website, or contact Rick Kean at the national BMA office. (e-mail LINK)
CBC Program Goals
The Certified Business Communicator program is sponsored by BMA as an industry service. Certification is available both to members of the Association, and to non-members. The program's objectives are:
1. To establish and maintain a uniform standard of professional competence in the field of business marketing communications.
2. To recognize those communications practitioners who successfully meet the education, experience, knowledge and professional conduct requirements of the CBC program.
3. To encourage continuing education and professional development among business marketing communicators.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for CBC designation, you must meet the following requirements:
* Have a combined total of eight years experience related to the field of business marketing communications. As many as four years of college education, in any subject area, may be substituted for an equivalent amount of work experience.
* Provide two professional references verifying your experience/qualifications.
* Pledge in writing to adhere to the BMA Code of Ethics.
* Achieve a passing score (180 or higher) on the CBC examination.
